Position description

The Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/pharmacology) and the Department of Bioengineering in the School of Engineering (https://be.ucsd.edu/) at UC San Diego invite applications for a cross-campus hire for a tenure-track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The focus of this search is in the broad area of Bioengineering, Systems Biology, and Single Cell Multiomics. Specific areas of interest are in bioengineering, data science, proteomics, metabolomics, and genomics, and intracellular imaging and tool development, including computational methods, and basic and translational investigation of human diseases.

Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the development of the large undergraduate majors enrolled in the Bioengineering Training Program, as well as in the graduate program on Pharmacological Sciences, including teaching lab and lecture courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

In addition, the selected candidate will likely have already participated in, contributed to, or created such programs. A successful candidate will also have served as a role model in mentoring others, with a commitment to helping shape and expand the University's diversity initiatives (http://diversity.ucsd.edu/).

Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor rank.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have demonstrated potential for a recognized program of excellence in both teaching and research.

The successful candidates must have a strong record of research accomplishment, an innovative research plan, and demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching at the interface of bioengineering and pharmacology. In addition, candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education and have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidates must have a PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Bioengineering, Pharmacology or a closely related field before July 1, 2022.
