Position description

Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Position in the Division of Infectious Diseases & Global Public Health: The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within its faculty, staff, and student body, and is actively recruiting full-time Clinical Infectious Disease physicians and physician-scientists.

The successful physician-scientist candidate is expected to develop a strong individual research program and contribute to the research portfolio of the Division. Candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students, residents, and fellows.

The selected clinical candidate will work in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students, residents, and Infectious Disease fellows. In addition, the faculty member will be an integral part of building the Infectious Diseases & Global Public Health Division at UCSD.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. In-Residence appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD and/or PhD. Candidates with an MD must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Infectious Disease and also have or be eligible for a California medical license or other pertinent clinical certifications or license/permits. Candidates with a PhD must have obtained their degree in the area of Infectious Diseases or a related field.
