Position description

The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) at University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Gastroenterology is actively recruiting clinical gastroenterologists with a focus on management of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), along with clinical research in the field of IBD.

The successful candidates will spend the majority of their time EITHER:
• In the clinical care of IBD patients, AND/OR
• Will be expected to establish a research program in the area of IBD and digital health, big data analysis and/or applied clinical informatics

The Department seeks candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in Gastroenterology. Candidates must have demonstrated clinical experience and training in inflammatory bowel diseases, as demonstrated with an advanced fellowship training in IBD and Gastroenterology and have demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Preferred qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or training in clinical informatics.
