Position description

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the Department of Pediatrics aim to foster a diverse and inclusive community of scholars to enhance our academic and research missions. The Department of Pediatrics is currently in an exciting period of growth and expansion across our varied divisions and centers of excellence. As part of our ongoing pursuit of clinical innovation and scientific discovery, we are seeking applications from candidates at the Associate or Full Professor rank.

The successful candidate for this position will be a scientist, physician-investigator or physician scientist, with wide experience in healthcare, research, and education. The successful candidate will also a strong interest in pursuing basic, translational, or clinical research programs pertaining to the field of Cardiology, Genetics, Hem/Onc, Nephrology, Neonatology, Allergy-Immunology & Rheumatology, Environmental Health or Health Disparities. All subspecialties that have relevance to child health will be considered.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor Rank. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank. Rank and series of appointment will be based on skills and qualifications of the candidate. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must possess a PhD, MD or MD/PhD or equivalent in a relevant field of Pediatrics. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California and must be board certified or eligible in Pediatrics.

Candidates must also have a track record of research excellence manifested by grants and publications. In addition to the highest standards of scholarship, teaching, and professional activity, candidates must have demonstrated contributions towards the development of a climate that supports equity, inclusion, and diversity.
