Position description

The Department of Radiology (http://radiology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. Due to continued growth in the division of cardiothoracic radiology, the department is seeking a full-time faculty radiologists in this subspecialty.

UC San Diego School of Medicine is ranked among the top research-intensive medical-school programs in the nation by US News & World Report. UC San Diego Health is the only academic health system serving San Diego and comprises UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center, Thornton Hospital, Jacobs Medical Center, Moores Cancer Center, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, and Koman Outpatient Pavilion.

UC San Diego Department of Radiology is one of the most innovative and productive academic departments in the country, offering state-of the-art services for clinical and translational studies. The Cardiothoracic Division has 8 faculty covering UC San Diego Health, as well as leadership roles within the health system, and regional and national organizations.

Clinical responsibilities will include interpretation of all aspects of thoracic (radiographs, CT and MR) and cardiac imaging (CT and MR). In addition to clinical responsibilities, candidates are expected to educate medical students, residents, and fellows as well as participate in multidisciplinary conferences.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree, and be board eligible/certified and have successfully completed at least a 1-year cardiothoracic fellowship. Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Familiarity with imaging of congenital heart diseases is preferred.
