The Department of Family Medicine (http://familymedicine.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego’s School of Medicine, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.
We invite applications for one or more faculty positions from those interested in an academic career involving the practice and teaching of integrated behavioral health (IBH) to medical students and residents. Clinical responsibilities may include care in both inpatient and outpatient settings depending on Department need.
The integrated behavioral health position is a junior-faculty appointment and will be within the division of Integrated Behavioral Health in the Department of Family Medicine. UCSD Integrated Behavioral Health serves all UCSD primary care patients’ behavioral Health needs. This faculty member will provide approximately 50% effort in direct patient care across select primary care offices located throughout the greater San Diego area. In addition to direct to patient care, responsibilities include supervision of graduate students in psychology and marriage/family therapy and education of other learners throughout the institution (e.g., medical residents). Participation in CQI and other program leadership/oversight is expected.
The Department also offers opportunities to teach and mentor in UCSD’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree program. Collaboration is also possible with faculty in the new Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science as well as other School of Medicine departments and in the basic sciences, social sciences, and engineering departments across the UC San Diego campus.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Position maybe full-time or part-time subject to funding.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Candidates must have an PhD or PsyD degree by the time of appointment.
At the time of the new appointment, proposed candidates must show evidence of outstanding qualifications through letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations, and patient satisfaction assessments.
Scholarly interests and progressive accomplishment in scholarly activity or practice-based research are preferred. Skills and fellowship training in Integrative Medicine are also preferred. Extra-mural funded research is preferred.
