Position: The Preuss School K-12 Instructor - School Counselor
AY 2021-2022 Opening: 1 position.
Annual Salary Range (based on education and credentialed experience): $56,834 - $115,068.00.
Representation: Unit IX – Non-Senate Instructional American Federation of Teachers
The Preuss School at UC San Diego (http://preuss.ucsd.edu/) is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college-prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban scholars for college admission.
Under the supervision of the Vice Principal, The Preuss School counselors are focused on the attainment of the California Standards for the School Counseling Profession:
a. Engage, advocate for and support all students in learning;
b. Plan, implement and evaluate programs to promote academic, career, personal, and social development of all students;
c. Utilize multiple sources of information to monitor and improve student behavior and achievement;
d. Collaborate and coordinate with school and community resources;
e. Promote and maintain a safe learning environment for all students;
f. Develop as a professional School Counselor.
Required - Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in the appropriate field.
Required - Current California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential with an emphasis in school counseling.
Required - Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) compliance.
Required - Applicants must pass Live Scan background check and Tuberculosis (TB) screening.
Preferred - Experience in school counseling
Preferred - Bilingual in Spanish

Copy of California Pupil Personnel Services Credential - Valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) with an emphasis in school counseling.
