The UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Research Employee position in the area of Regional Security. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive expertise in studying regional security focused on the African context.
In addition to carrying out their own research, the appointee will work on the IGCC project on The Rise of Authoritarian International Organizations under the supervision of Professor Stephan Haggard at IGCC.
Postdoctoral responsibilities will primarily include:
- Researching and writing on the rise of authoritarian international organizations and their activities.
- Examining the effects of these organizations on the prospects for democratic rule.
- Surveying authoritarian regional organizations and the development of their activities over time.
- Researching and writing about prominent organizations headquartered in Africa that include Middle East members.
- Attending book conferences, workshops, and other relevant activities.
Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. or received a Ph.D. degree in Political Science by the start of appointment.
