Position description

THE DEPARTMENT O F CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY within the Division of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego seeks to establish a pool of outstanding instructors for undergraduate courses in all areas of chemistry. Pending budgetary approval, one or more non tenure -track lectureships may become
available for the 2021 -2022 academic year. All areas of chemistry and biochemistry will be considered.

A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field and teaching experience is required prior to appointment. Ph.D. candidate s may apply; however, the Ph.D. mus t be awarded before any offer of employment will be made .

Research experience, two supportive letters of references , strong re cord of mentorship, teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory-based settings, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are highly desirable.

The 9-month salary and level of appointment are based on qualifications and UC payscale. Applications received by April 15, 2021 will be given priority consideration.

  2. Teaching evaluations from up to four recent teaching experiences, including comprehensive set of comments from students. Evaluations should come from large class if available . (Please include a legend to help interpret the scale and rubric for evaluation.)
  3. 1-pag e teaching statement.
  4. Statement describing past and/or potential contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Up to three miscellaneous/additional documents (optional) may be provided.
