The UC San Diego Health Transplant Program is searching for an outstanding, highly motivated surgeon to join our successful and growing liver and kidney transplant team at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The program performs adult liver, adult kidney, living donor liver, living donor kidney, donor nephrectomy, deceased donor organ procurement and pediatric kidney and liver transplant transplantation.
We are seeking a transplant surgeon who is passionate about clinical excellence and is capable of making significant contributions to our educational and academic mission with a commitment to research and education
Candidates must have an MD and be board certified and eligible in General Surgery. Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must have completed an ASTS accredited fellowship in abdominal and be board certified by the American Board of Surgery. The ability to independently perform deceased donor liver transplantation, kidney transplantation and minimally invasive donor nephrectomy is required.
Pediatric transplant experience as well as pancreas transplant experience would also be desirable but not required. The ability to navigate the inherent multidisciplinary landscape in a collaborative team based approach is desired. A strong background in clinical and/or translational research would be preferred with support and mentorship available to develop a research program for appropriate candidates.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
