Position description

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology ( and Moores UCSD Cancer Center is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seeks to recruit a fellowship trained surgical oncologist to develop a practice focused on clinical care and research in the areas of endocrine and sarcoma surgery.

The faculty member will expected to devote 90% of their time to clinical care and will have a commitment to research and education.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree and be board certified or eligible in General Surgery. Candidates must have completed an SSO approved fellowship in surgical oncology. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must have experience in clinical care of patients with endocrine tumors and diseases in the realm of general surgical oncology (exclusive of breast surgery) and an excellent track record of publication.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
