The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego ( is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking research faculty in the position of Reproductive and Stem Cell Biologists.

The Department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to research excellence and participation in teaching, research, service, and in building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. The Department is comprised of 65 faculty members. We are currently ranked 14th among Pathology departments in NIH funding and have active research programs in placental biology, microbiome, cancer immunology, and neurodevelopmental biology. The successful candidate will benefit from the highly stimulating and collaborative environment within the department.

UCSD has recently launched the Center for Perinatal Discovery, which the candidate will join. The overarching mission of the Center is to understand the effects of maternal health on pregnancy, and the effects of pregnancy exposures and outcomes on maternal and offspring health throughout the lifespan.

Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or PhD or equivalent degree and a current research program in a discipline relevant to reproductive and stem cell biology with a track record of obtaining extramural funding and high productivity with regards to peer-reviewed publications.

Candidates with an MD, who also want to pursue practice in Pathology, must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California; they must also be board eligible/certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology, or related field.

Candidates with a strong research background in reproductive immunology or endometrial biology are preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor Rank based on candidate's experience and qualifications. Series will include Ladder Rank, In-Residence with secured extramural funding, and Adjunct.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
