Position description

The Department of Pathology (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) and The Center for Perinatal Discovery at the University of California San Diego are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and are seeking faculty position with appointment in the Department of Pathology. The Center for Perinatal Discovery is a new initiative at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and is jointly supported by the Departments of Pathology and Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences.

The successful applicant will establish a vigorous program of high-quality research in reproductive and stem cell biology, with an emphasis in placental and developmental biology. Potential areas of research include, but are not limited to, trophoblast differentiation and placental development, early embryonic development, and reproductive immunology.

Candidates must have an MD, PhD or equivalent. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates with additional expertise in human pluripotent stem cell biology and/or computational biology obtained through postdoctoral training are preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
