The Department of Radiology at UC San Diego (http://radiology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks a faculty member.
The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators in developing innovative MRI methods. In addition to developing their own research program, the researcher will help to advance the mission of the Center for Functional MRI to provide state-of-the-art imaging methods for the UCSD research community. The researcher will also support the Department of Radiology's efforts to translate these MRI methods into clinical practice.
The UCSD Center for Functional MRI is a state-of-the-art resource for the San Diego research community that makes possible advanced studies of function, physiology, and anatomy. The Center houses two 3T whole body-imaging systems and a 7T small-animal imaging system. More information can be found at http://fmri.ucsd.edu.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in engineering or a physical science. Candidates must have outstanding writing and communication skills as demonstrated by a successful publication record. Candidates must have a successful record of developing and implementing advanced MRI acquisition methods for both research and clinical applications. Candidates must have a successful record of working in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborating with basic scientists and clinicians.
Candidates who have a demonstrated experience and scientific leadership in one or more of the following areas: arterial spin labeling, functional MRI, diffusion imaging, MRI-based oxygenation measures are preferred. Candidates with a demonstrated competence in developing MRI pulse sequences on GE, Siemens, or Bruker systems, with a high level of competence on at least one platform are preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
