The Department of Pathology ( and the Division of Neuropathology in the Department of Pathology at University of California San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks a Junior Specialist.

The Hiniker Laboratory studies the role of Leucine Rich Repeat Kinase 2 (LRRK2) in Parkinson's disease. We seek a Junior Research Specialist I position to work as part of a team on studying LRRK2's protein interacting partners, kinase substrates, and disease-driving functions. This individual will conduct experiments under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator in order to advance their career in academic research. Techniques that may be used include DNA cloning and PCR, protein purification and pull downs, enzymology, tissue culture, and immunofluorescence and light microscopy.

Candidates must have a BA or equivalent with an emphasis relevant to Neuropathology. Strongly motivated candidates with prior biochemistry research experience and plans to go on to graduate school are preferred.
