FACULTY POSITION AT SCRIPPS INSTITUTION OF OCEANOGRAPHY, UC SAN DIEGO
Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) at UC San Diego (http://scripps.ucsd.edu) invites applications for the professorial position listed below. We seek a motivated, broad-thinking scientist/educator to establish a vigorous research program and provide intellectual leadership in their field while complementing existing expertise at SIO and other UCSD departments. SIO is a world-renowned institution for earth and ocean science research with approximately 200 principal investigators. Associate/Full Professor in Marine Natural Products and Chemical Biology - We seek outstanding candidates for a national/international thought leader in the field of marine natural products science and chemical biology. The successful candidate will have a well-established track record of innovative research activities broadly centered at the intersection of marine natural products chemistry and biological or biomedical sciences. Applicants for this inherently multidisciplinary position will have an exceptional record of published research in natural products chemistry, drug discovery, biosynthesis, synthetic biology, or chemical ecology, and a strong track record and commitment to graduate education. The successful candidate will be expected to continue a vigorous extramurally supported research program that integrates with and aids the growth of existing marine natural products research at SIO and UC San Diego, in particular at the Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine.

PhD or equivalent degree in biological, chemical, physical or ocean sciences, or a relevant field, is required at the time of application. The successful candidate will have a nationally and internationally high impact research program in marine natural products chemistry that is well funded from external sources, along with demonstrated commitment to teaching, mentoring, and advising of students at various levels. Additional evidence of service and broader contributions to diversity, leadership activities, and other items that will contribute positively to departmental welfare are preferred. Salary will be consistent with the applicant’s qualifications and experience, and with University of California pay scales.
