Description

Tenured Position in Gastroenterology. The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department is initiating a search for a tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology.

The Division is internationally recognized for its research and patient care. The position will focus on research in the following areas:

• Colorectal cancer screening and prevention, and more broadly on prevention and control of gastrointestinal cancers

• Chronic liver diseases including but not limited to intestinal microbiota and the changes this has on liver disease.

Successful applicants will benefit from and complement the existing strengths of the Department in studies of cancer prevention research. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong individual research program, to contribute to the research portfolio of the Division, and to provide future strategic leadership in research.

Candidates must have an MD or PhD or be MD/PhD. Candidates with an MD must be board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must also have an excellent record of research productivity and extramural grant funding.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Series will include 100% Ladder Rank or 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
