The Division of Hematology/Oncology ( in the Department of Medicine at Moores Cancer, UC San Diego is seeking applicants for the position of section chief of GI Oncology.

The GI oncology chief will lead a dynamic group of GI medical oncologists and work as part of a multidisciplinary group of GI oncology specialists to lead GI oncology programs at UC San Diego, Moores Cancer Center, an NCI designated comprehensive cancer center.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree and be board certified/eligible in Medical Oncology, and must be eligible for a State of California medical license. The candidate must be an outstanding clinician, researcher and educator with a national reputation for clinical/translational research in GI oncology. The ideal candidate must have experience leading early and latter Phase clinical trials, and in the conduct of translational science with a demonstrated interest in precision oncology. The candidate must possess excellent communication and leadership skills, and have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively.

A track record of extramural funding and/or investigator-initiated studies is highly preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
