The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery ( is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. The department is seeking faculty member(s) who are fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgery and have training in bariatric surgery and committed to research and education.

The UC San Diego Health System and Department of Surgery are committed to the future growth of MIS/Bariatric surgery within the digestive disease strategic planning growth plans. The first phase of the major clinical expansion will begin in Q2 of FY20 with future plans for a Center of Digestive Diseases (GI, Colorectal, MIS).

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:
1) MD and Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery
2) Successful completion of a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery
3) Training in Bariatric Surgery
4) Must have or be able to obtain a California medical license

Candidates with a background in biongineering are preferred.

Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Series will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
