Description

This is a three - to - five week, PART-TIME, TEMPORARY position.

Provide math instruction (Integrated II – Calculus) for students enrolled in Upward Bound and UBMS summer programs. All instructors will be assigned a 1-4 week summer course with 15-20 high school students grades 9th to 12th. The course is intended to introduce students to material they will see in the Fall 2019. Students will be from various grade levels in one class. Math instructors will be assigned based on teaching experience and skill set. Instructors must be willing to create a short-term curriculum, which includes methods and materials from common core math. Instructors must provide their own teaching course content.

Must possess or be in the process of obtaining a post-graduate degree. Must demonstrate commitment to diversity and to working with high school students from various races and ethnicity groups, economic backgrounds, religions, genders, sexual orientation, abilities, nations of origins, and other cultural backgrounds.

Math instructor responsibilities include: prepare daily lesson plan, conduct classroom instruction and grade level appropriate assessments, grade assignments and issue final summer program grade. This position is also responsible for participating in a weekly meeting with the SRP Program Coordinator, and if possible, with other teachers in the program. Instructors are expected to provide written and oral reports on students’ behavior and conduct in class.

Total Compensation for Training (only): $1,022.80

Program One:
Class location – UC San Diego Campus
Class Schedule – 6/24 – 7/11, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 10:30 am
Total Hours: 16.5 classroom + 16.5 prep & grading = 33.0
Total Compensation for Program One (only): $843.81

Program Two:
Class location – SD City College
Class Schedule - 6/24 – 7/03, Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am – 10:00 am
Class location – UC San Diego Campus
Class Schedule - 7/15 – 7/25, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 10:30 am
Total Hours: 22.5 classroom + 22.5 prep & grading = 45.0
Total Compensation for Program Two (only): $1,150.65

Program Three:
Class location – Mount Miguel High School
Class Schedule - 6/24 – 7/03, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Total Hours: 14.0 classroom + 14.0 prep & grading = 28.0
Total Compensation for Program Three (only): $715.96

Program Four:
Class location – UC San Diego Campus
Class Schedule - 7/15 – 7/19, Monday – Friday, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Total Hours: 7.5 classroom + 7.5 prep & grading = 15.0
Total Compensation for Program Four (only): $383.55
