Position description

The Department of Linguistics (http://ling.ucsd.edu) within the Division of Social Sciences at the University of California, San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Syntax at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2019.

The Department of Linguistics is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. Qualifications: The department invites applications from specialists in syntax who enhance or complement existing departmental strengths. Substantial experience in fieldwork is a plus, though all candidates will be considered. Candidates must have a PhD in Linguistics or a related field by the start of the appointment on July 1, 2019. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of research productivity, a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and extramural funding potential. Candidates are encouraged to highlight how their research enhances or complements existing linguistics research at UC San Diego.

Candidates will also demonstrate strong or potential accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego’s commitment to achieving excellence and diversity. In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, individuals offered employment by the University of California will be required to verify identity and authorization to work in the United States.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
