The Department of Mathematics, within the Division of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (http://www.math.ucsd.edu), is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and invites applications for the Dean’s Excellence search, which includes tenure-track faculty positions. This is a broad search that is open to applicants from all areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics. All positions are subject to availability of funding.

We especially welcome candidates who have already participated in, contributed to, or created such programs, and can articulate how this experience helped shape their plan. Candidates should present any previous experience having served as a role model in mentoring others. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to helping shape and expand the University’s diversity initiatives (http://diversity.ucsd.edu/).

Teaching in mathematics, and related topics, will be expected. Ideally, candidates will have skills and interest in teaching lecture courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates must receive their Ph.D. prior to their first quarter of teaching. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on UC pay scales. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2019. Review of applications will commence on October 15, 2018 and continue until positions are filled.
