Position: K-12 Substitute Teacher
Openings: 5 positions

The Preuss School at UC San Diego (http://preuss.ucsd.edu) is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban students for college admission.

Schedule is driven by teacher absence.

In the absence of the classroom teacher, provide instruction, encourage student progress, and manage the learning environment. Demonstrate professional practices in teaching, using course of study provided by the regular classroom teacher. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in State law and administrative regulations. Adapt subject material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students. Encourage students to think independently and express original ideas.

All applicants are required to possess the following basic qualifications:
Required - Bachelor's degree in any subject
Required - Current California Teaching Credential
Required - Must pass Live Scan background check and Tuberculosis (TB) screening
Required - Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) compliance
