The Department of Radiology at UC San Diego ( is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body is seeking a Project Scientist(s).

The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators developing ultrashort echo time (UTE) MRI techniques for morphological and quantitative imaging with musculoskeletal (MSK) and neurological applications.

UCSD has a comprehensive array of facilities for human studies and small animal imaging. The current MR facilities include 1.5T and 3T GE scanners, a cryogen-free 4.7T MR Solutions scanner with variable field strengths (0.1-4.7T), as well as a Bruker 7T scanner and a Bruker 11.7T scanner. The San Diego VA Healthcare System is a medical education affiliate and our group also routinely accesses a 3T Siemens scanner and a Microimaging Core (with histological services and bright field, confocal, laser microdissection, in vivo optical, transmission electron, and ultra-high frequency ultrasound microscopy) through this close relationship for validation studies.

Candidates must have an PhD in medical physics, bioengineering or a related field and experience on pulse sequence development and imaging reconstruction with clinical MRI or NMR scanners.

Candidates with outstanding writing and communication skills as demonstrated by a successful publication record is preferred.

Appointment will be at Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
