Position description

The Anthropology Department (http://anthro.ucsd.edu) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and invites applicants whose experience have prepared them to contribute to our pedagogical mission.

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. with the area of study preferably in Anthropology. Successful candidates will also have outstanding undergraduate teaching and scholarship and must demonstrate have strong or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of a large public university. The Department is looking for Lecturers with teaching experience or can demonstrate capabilities in teaching following anthropological subfields:
• Archaeological Anthropology
• Biological Anthropology
• Sociocultural Anthropology
We encourage applicants with expertise in regions or areas not well represented in our current faculty, for example, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and elsewhere.

Teaching expectations are based on the needs of the department including large, introductory courses in applicants' sub disciplines and possibly upper and lower division courses, related to their own research interests. Appointments will be part-time or full-time, from one quarter up to one year in duration, with the possibility of extension to a subsequent year. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
